At the age of 11, Christine and her family moved to Sacramento, CA where she first discovered her love of entertainment and began participating in talent shows, choir ensembles, ballet and piano lessons. Some of her early musical inspirations were Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, and Mariah Carey whom she admired for their personal confidence and individual expression. Aaliyah, Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton were also strong vocal influences.
During high school, Christine spent time expressing her love for music as an active chorus member and as lead vocalist in several musical productions including, “Sinag-Tala”, a Filipino-American Theatre Company, and Best of Broadway.
From 1997-2001 Christine attended Indiana University. During her years at IU, she continued to make time to study voice and piano and performed in various open mic sessions and talent shows. In her junior year, in the midst of an already hectic academic schedule, Christine responded to an advertisement seeking a young female singer for a multi-cultural pop trio in NYC. With hardly any time to prepare, Christine flew to the audition and sang a cappella where she was immediately selected out of over 50 young ladies to join the group. Yet, even while Christine’s natural vocal talent was apparent and friends and peers encouraged her to pursue this professional opportunity, her parents prioritized their daughter’s education before any prospect of a musical career.
After graduation in 2001, Christine moved back to the Bay Area and began to immerse herself in the local music scene. Being surrounded by all types of people and genres gave her an appreciation for a diverse swath of music but Christine began gravitating towards R&B and Hip-Hop. Feeling a strong affinity to perform, Christine joined local band Session 94 as a backup vocalist. The band performed live each week at various nightclubs in the Bay Area but after a short stint, Christine decided to strike out on her own as a young diva.
Her breakout live performance as a solo artist took place in the summer of 2003 at SF Pride and she has not slowed down since. Turning in an admirable performance at the Marine World Kababayan Festival alongside other notable acts such as Immij and Honey Luv, Christine earned the respect and admiration of her peers. She was also an invited guest on Monterey radio station 97.9 En Fuego and set the roof on fire at Club Gemini later that evening with a hot performance. Christine’s latest gigs include singing the national anthem during the Sacramento Kings game and a recorded live performance for Exposure TV, where she received great reviews. Christine’s biggest triumph came after winning the Asian American Idol II contest sponsored by Element SF and Universal Records. Christine wooed the crowd and the judges with her infectious charisma, stage presence and strong vocal chops and battled 25 other competitors all the way to victory.
Ever passionate about her commitment to make good music, Christine is poised to turn her dreams of being a platinum artist into reality. Currently Christine is working on finishing her debut album by late summer. She continues to perfect her craft and stay educated about the business and has been hard at work writing music and recording in the studio alongside her producer Lamarr Handley of JMarquis Entertainment and Mystery House Productions. Her determination, unique voice and work ethic is the perfect formula for a successful solo career.
